Dallas Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle expects guard Tim Hardaway Jr. to be cleared from his surgery for training camp. Per Mavs reporter Dwain Price, Carlilse gave an update of on Hardaway Jr.'s surgery last April to address an injury to his left tibia.

“From my understanding everything went well and I expect that he's cleared.”

Last year, Hardaway divided his time between the New York Knicks and the Mavericks. To recall, he was included in a trade package which sent him, Trey Burke, Courtney Lee, and Kristaps Porzingis to the Mavs.

Hardaway missed the team's final 11 games due to the injury. But in 19 games (17 starts), the 27-year-old averaged 15.5 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 1.9 assists across 29.4 minutes per game. He also shot 40.4 percent from the field and 32.1 percent from deep.

Given his decent showing, analysts tagged him as a critical piece in the Mavericks' development. Given his penchant for scoring, he can be a complementary piece beside the duo of Luka Doncic and Porzingis.

The main problem for Hardaway has always been consistency — something which can be remedied over time. And given that he's going to play alongside two of today's brightest young stars, it's probably going to be a tad bit easier to swish the net.
