Trade rumors are a natural part of the NBA. With the trade deadline approaching on February 3, NBA teams are conversing more than ever to bring in pieces that will help their teams win. It's all a part of the business, which is based solely on what's the best for a particular team. However, many league executives may not realize the impact a trade can have on a player, especially one that is committed to a particular team.
Wesley Matthews of the Dallas Mavericks seems to be struggling with the recent trade rumors that have involved him. According to Eddie Sefko of Dallas News, Matthews is unsure of how to handle the rumors and clearly wants to stay in Dallas for the foreseeable future.

“It’s 2-sided. You worry because like, damn, the team doesn’t appreciate me, or they don’t want me. Or you can take it like other teams want me … just part of the business. I’m going to give whatever I got wherever I am. Hopefully, here”
Matthews apparently believes that the trade rumors are a two-sided affair. While he is clearly trying to handle the rumors professionally, he does have doubts about whether the Mavericks want him and whether he can commit to a franchise he obviously wants to play for. These are common concerns of players that are involved in trade rumors, and sometimes it's difficult for these players to just focus on playing without knowing the certainty of their future.
Whatever the case may be, hopefully Matthews and the Mavericks can mutually decide on what's best for both parties very soon.
