Phoenix Suns legend Steve Nash was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame recently and he took some time to poke fun at former Dallas Mavericks teammate Dirk Nowitzki.

Nowitzki was in attendance to watch his close friend Nash get inducted to the Hall of Fame. Nash said that it definitely made him happy to see his good old friend. But he also gave him a soft jab. Per Dwain Price of mavs.com, Nash said:

“It definitely made me smile to see Dirk so excited to come and see us get in the Hall of Fame. He's pretty pumped, and that’s not always the case with the grumpy German.”

In the late 90s up to the early 2000's, Nash spent six seasons with Nowitzki as teammates in Dallas. Their team-up helped make Mavericks among the top Western Conference teams during that time.

They formed a rather unorthodox one-two punch. Nash was a classic point guard who looked for teammates first before setting up his own shot. He wasn't the most athletic guard out there but his silky dribbles coupled with his three-point shooting ability was enough to keep his foes on their toes.

Nowitzki, meanwhile, is a 7-foot forward-center who was among the best shooters in the league back then, and even up to now. Even before the rise of the stretch-four players, Nowitzki was already at it. And together with Nash and Don Nelson's system, they utilized the German every chance they got.

Though the Nash and Nowitzki partnership failed to win a ring, they're still regarded as one of the best small man-big man duos in the history of the league.
