The Cleveland Cavaliers have managed to get back to their dominant ways despite being ravaged by injuries early on in the 2017-18 NBA season. Furthermore, the recent turmoil surrounding point guard Derrick Rose's latest injury has seemingly come to a close with the former MVP reportedly interested in returning to the team.

While in retrospect, having Rose back to help add some depth to the depleted frontcourt seems like a good idea, there is speculation that it would be best if he did not return at all. According to Mike Zavagno of SB Nation, the Cavs have been a better overall team since his absence:

It is difficult to tell whether or not Cleveland would be better off without Rose, however, their recent success certainly supports the data. The Cavs are currently riding an 11-game win streak in the 12 games since his absence. Meanwhile, the looming return of two-time All-Star point guard Isaiah Thomas is only going to further complicate his role down the line.

That said, the only potential solution would be to either waive Rose or potentially try to deal him before the trade deadline. The former three-time All-Star came into the season hoping to use his potential success with the Cavs as a springboard for a comeback, which is why he signed the veteran's minimum. Perhaps Rose would best be suited on a team where he can assuredly see solid minutes on a nightly basis.
