Pistons news: Blake Griffin, Andre Drummond looking forward to playing with Derrick Rose

Detroit Pistons All-Stars Blake Griffin and Andre Drummond are looking forward to playing with point guard Derrick Rose this season.

Rose signed a two-year deal with the Pistons in free agency. He will back up Reggie Jackson at the point guard spot.

Last season with the Minnesota Timberwolves, Derrick Rose averaged 18.0 points, 2.7 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game. The Chicago native shot 48.2 percent from the field, 37.0 percent from beyond the arc, 85.6 percent from the free-throw line and scored a career-high 50 points on Halloween against the Utah Jazz.

The Pistons averaged 107.0 points per game in 2018-19, which ranked 25th in the league. With Rose in the fold, Detroit should be more explosive on offense this upcoming season.

Last season, Rose became the first NBA player since 1983 to score at least 917 points in fewer than 1,400 minutes.

Blake Griffin and Andre Drummond figure to get more easy looks at the basket playing with Rose, who remains one of the best drivers in the league despite undergoing four knee surgeries.

Griffin appeared in 75 games for the Pistons last season. The star power forward put up 24.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 5.4 assists per game. Rose can take some of the offensive pressure off from Griffin, especially in the fourth quarter.

Drummond averaged 17.3 points and 15.6 rebounds for the Pistons last season while shooting 53.3 percent from the field. He recorded 69 double-doubles.

For Detroit to win a playoff series this season, it needs Drummond, Griffin, Jackson and Rose to play at a high-level.
