Los Angeles Lakers superstar big man Anthony Davis — from afar — is rooting for his fellow Chicago brother, Detroit Pistons point guard Derrick Rose.
Rose, who got MVP chants from Chicago Bulls fans last Friday at the United Center, is off to a strong start with the Pistons this season, something Davis loves to see.
“They love him here,” Davis said, via K.C. Johnson of NBC Sports Chicago. “Chicago basketball, they love their guys. It was a good thing to see, especially with all he has been through.
“His name will forever be etched in stone here as a legend. He made it out where most people wouldn’t. He’s a Hall of Famer here forever, no matter if he makes it or not. I’m happy for him. I’m happy he’s back being the old Derrick Rose.”

Rose is averaging 20.8 points, 1.5 rebounds and 6.3 assists per game with the Pistons this season. The former MVP is shooting 56.2 percent from the field, 25.0 percent from beyond the arc and 88.9 percent from the free-throw line.
Rose will always be Chicago's favorite son. He's definitely the only player who will get cheers at the United Center as a visitor.
The Pistons need Rose to get healthy again. He's going to miss his third straight game on Wednesday against the New York Knicks due to a hamstring injury. The Pistons, who are still without All-Star Blake Griffin, are 3-5 on the season.
