Brooklyn Nets superstar Kevin Durant likely won't play this season, but he's keeping tabs on the entire league. One player KD has noticed early in the season is Detroit Pistons point guard Derrick Rose.

Speaking at the Forbes Under 30 Summit in Detroit on Tuesday, Durant said Rose — the youngest MVP in NBA history — is “looking like an All-Star.”

Via Branden Hunter of the Michigan Chronicle:

Durant, 31, is out indefinitely with an Achilles injury, but has kept his eyes on the young NBA season, including his Nets, the new-look L.A. Clippers and the spark Derrick Rose has given the Detroit Pistons.

“I don’t know about the Pistons,” Durant laughed. “I love the Pistons and D-Rose is looking like an All-Star. But we will see. It’s a long year.”

The Pistons are 2-2 on the young season. All-Star power forward Blake Griffin hasn't played due to a hamstring injury and knee soreness, so Rose's usage rate has been high for Detroit and he's been delivering the goods.

Rose is averaging 21.5 points and 5.3 assists for the Pistons while shooting 54.7 percent from the field, 50.0 percent from beyond the arc and 93.8 percent from the free-throw line. The Chicago native had an awful shooting game on Monday against the Indiana Pacers, as Rose shot 4-of-16 from the floor.

However, the three-time All-Star made the go-ahead bucket in the fourth quarter with 28.3 seconds left in the game and the Pistons wound up defeating the Pacers:

Rose was almost an All-Star last season with the Minnesota Timberwolves. He was one of the top vote getters in the fan voting.

D-Rose hasn't been an All-Star since 2012. It would be a great story if he makes it this season with the Pistons considering he's undergone four knee surgeries in his career.
