Stan Van Gundy still Andre Drummond was not able to play to his full potential this year. His numbers from a year ago have been down and the veteran head coach admits they both need to work better together to improve him even more as a player.
Van Gundy made it known that he will remain patient with the Detroit Pistons‘ starting center as he understands that Drummond is still young, and has a lot of things to learn. He also cited the facets of Drummond’s game that he wants to further develop, which will be beneficial to him and his team.

Coming off a disappointing season for Pistons, where they missed out on the playoffs, Drummond appeared in 81 games for them and averaged 13.6 points, 13.8 rebounds, 1.1 assists, 1.5 steals, and 1.1 blocks per game. However, he played better a season ago and was a stronger force for them, especially on the defensive end.
With cap space to work with and a plethora of players available in free agency and the draft, the Pistons are expected to make some moves to bolster their lineup for next season. Should they be able to add key pieces and help Drummond become a more consistent performer, the future will be bright for the franchise and they could turn out to be a perennial playoff contender in the Eastern Conference.
