Golden State Warriors star Klay Thompson has been horrendous in the first two games of the 2022 NBA Finals, but Jaylen Brown doesn't think it is because of the Boston Celtics' defense.

Thompson has scored just 26 points combined in Games 1 and 2 of the series against the Celtics. He's shooting 30.3 percent from the field and 26.7 percent from deep, further highlighting his scoring struggles in the series.

While many believe Boston's defense should be given credit for limiting Thompson, Brown admitted he doesn't think that's the case. In fact, he highlighted that they need to do a better job defending Klay because he can catch fire anytime and break out of what he deems as a temporary shooting slump.

“He’s just missing shots,” Brown said of the Warriors star's struggles, per Anthony Slater of The Athletic. “That player, he can get it going at any moment. We’re aware of that. We trying to prepare ourselves to make sure that doesn’t happen. But we’ve got to do a better job, to be honest. Not doing a good enough job on Klay Thompson.”

True enough, there have been several instances this 2022 postseason when Klay Thompson struggled but managed to bounce back. Take his Games 4 and 5 performances during the Western Conference Finals. He scored just 12 points in their lone loss of the series, but he managed to shrug off the rust the following contest with a 32-point explosion.

In the case of Thompson, it's not a matter of “if” he can catch fire but “when.” With that said, as Jaylen Brown highlighted, the Celtics better be prepared.
