Golden State Warriors All-Star shooting guard D'Angelo Russell won't play against the Washington Wizards on Monday.

Russell has a right quad contusion. Jacob Evans will start in place of Russell:

In 32 games for the Warriors this season, Russell is averaging 23.8 points, 3.7 rebounds and 6.3 assists. The lefty is shooting 43.3 percent from the field, 38.3 percent from beyond the arc and 78.0 percent from the free-throw line.

Russell signed a four-year deal with the Warriors this past offseason as part of a sign-and-trade deal with the Brooklyn Nets involving Kevin Durant.

The Warriors are 11-39 on the season. They have the worst record in the NBA.

Golden State will miss the playoffs this season for the first time in the Steve Kerr era. Kerr joined the Warriors in the summer of 2014, replacing Mark Jackson. The Dubs have won three championships under Kerr.

The Warriors have no players going to the All-Star game this season for the first time since 2012. Stephen  Curry and Klay Thompson have been out with injuries, Kevin Durant is no longer on the team, while Draymond Green and Russell aren’t having All-Star caliber seasons.

It’s still unclear when Curry will play again this season for the Warriors. The franchise is clearly going to be cautious with Curry since he’s the best player on the team.

No one knows if Thompson is going to play this season either. The All-Star is still rehabbing his ACL injury. At this point, it’s probably smart for the Warriors to just sit Thompson all season.
