All-Star point guard D'Angelo Russell is excited to begin the next chapter of his NBA career with the Golden State Warriors.

The Warriors acquired Russell from the Brooklyn Nets this summer in the Kevin Durant sign-and-trade deal.

Russell, who made his first All-Star team last season, thinks you can only get better from being around a championship organization like the Warriors, who have been to five straight NBA Finals and won three out of the last five titles.

“I think you can only get better from it. When you’re going to a championship organization, being around Hall of Fame players and Hall of Fame coaches, it forces you to be that level, too,” Russell told GQ. “You are what you're around. I’m a believer in that. I think I have nothing but knowledge to learn from being around all those guys.”

D'Angelo Russell will start next to Stephen Curry in the Warriors' backcourt. The lefty averaged 21.1 points, 3.9 rebounds and 7.0 assists last season for the Nets while shooting 43.4 percent from the field, 36.9 percent from beyond the arc and 78.0 percent from the free-throw line.

The Warriors are looking forward to seeing Russell and Curry play together. Both stars can light it up from deep and figure to mesh well, both on and off the court.
