The Golden State Warriors will be squaring off with a familiar face on Tuesday night to open the 2020-21 season; however, they could be without one of their key contributors. According to Connor Letourneau of the San Francisco Chronicle, Green is doubtful to play in Kevin Durant's debut with the Brooklyn Nets on Dec. 22.

Draymond Green has been absent for a large portion of Golden State's practices, along with rookie James Wiseman, due to COVID-19. Nonetheless, the veteran forward has returned to practice, only to tweak his ankle in a scrimmage with the Warriors over the weekend.

Provided that, Green is unlikely going to be active in Golden State's season opener versus Brooklyn. While the former Defensive Player of the Year is expected to sit out with an ankle ailment, Wiseman is on track to suit up for the Warriors.

However, it is undetermined if Steve Kerr will start the rookie center against the Nets. But with Green's status trending downward, expect Wiseman to get a healthy amount of minutes, regardless of whether or not he starts.

Of course, all eyes will be on the matchup between the Warriors and the Nets due to Durant facing his former team. KD was unable to play against Golden State last season after missing the entire year with an Achilles injury.

When asked about facing the Nets, Green said that he's upset that he wouldn't be present for his son's birthday. However, seeing that he is doubtful to play now, Green may have more time to spend with his son on his birthday next week.
