Magic Johnson has an explanation for Michael Jordan's recent claim that Warriors All-Star Stephen Curry “isn't a Hall of Famer yet.”

Jordan made the remark in a recent interview on the TODAY Show:

Curry, a six-time champion whose known as one of the best shooters in NBA history, will likely be inducted into the hall as soon as he's eligible. Johnson, always jovial, joked that Jordan simply couldn't say so because “he might get fined.”

Curry and the Warriors have been a dominant force for years. This campaign will be different, though, as Kevin Durant has left the team in favor of the Brooklyn Nets, and Klay Thompson is expected to miss much (if not all) of the season as he recovers from an ACL injury.

With Durant gone and Thompson out of commission, it will be Curry leading the Warriors. The former Davidson standout made 69 appearances with the team last regular season, racking up averages of 27.3 points on 47.2 percent shooting from the field (43.7 percent from beyond the arc), 5.3 rebounds, 5.2 assists and 1.3 steals in 33.8 minutes per outing.

The Warriors kick off the 2019-20 season on Thursday night, when they'll serve as hosts to the LA Clippers. Tip-off inside the Chase Center is set for 10:30 p.m. ET, with TNT having live broadcast coverage.
