The nature of this caustic 2019-20 season has spurred the trade winds for the Golden State Warriors, as some league executives expect them to make moves prior to the trade deadline. With a mail-it-in-type season in full effect after the injuries to Klay Thompson, Stephen Curry, and Draymond Green through the early portion of the campaign, NBA execs expect D'Angelo Russell could fetch a decent price in the trade market if dangled by the team.
“If the Warriors decide to investigate the market, some league executives believe it’s not unreasonable to think the Warriors could get another first-round pick plus a quality role player for Russell, especially if they’re able to construct a deal where they take back salary,” wrote ESPN's Brian Windhorst
The Warriors are already slated to get back the conditional first-round draft pick they offered the Brooklyn Nets when executing a sign-and-trade that would ship Kevin Durant to them in exchange for Russell.

Golden State also gave up another first-rounder to the Memphis Grizzlies to haul in Andre Iguodala, one they won't get back at this point unless they trade Russell once he's eligible to be dealt on Dec. 15.
The Warriors will basically be getting reconstructed pieces after trading Durant, but those draft assets could become fortifying pieces to a healthy nucleus of Curry, Thompson, and Green — once they all return from injury.
The organization has given no indication that it's willing to trade Russell, but that can all change, considering the wave of mutilation that has happened for this team since Game 5 of the 2019 NBA Finals.
