Election day is approaching and the midterms are one of the things on the mind of Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr. He took to Twitter to discuss the recent string of mass shootings. He points out the prevalence of mass shootings and encourages his followers to vote.
I’ve lost count of how many moments of silence we’ve had for mass shooting victims before our games the past few years. Our leaders pretend to care but won’t do anything about it. Vote them out on Tuesday. https://t.co/xEVcv6pAof

Kerr says:
“Our leaders pretend to care but won’t do anything about it. Vote them out on Tuesday.”
The video he's referencing focuses on Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Speaker of the House Paul Ryan — both Republicans who oppose any type of gun reform legislation. Kerr doesn't believe they'll do much to combat the gun violence consuming America.

This isn't the first time we've seen Kerr get political. The outspoken head coach has been a strong critic of Donald Trump in the past and he's praised Kevin Durant's displays of patriotism that starkly contrast with the President's actions.
Kerr isn't the only NBA head coach Gregg Popovich is also making political statements. Pop was seen wearing a “Beto” hat which undoubtedly shows his support for Democratic Senate candidate Beto O'Rourke who is looking to unseat Republican incumbent Ted Cruz in Texas — a deep red state.

NBA players and coaches are feeling empowered to speak out on social and political issues that they feel strongly about. Kerr and Popovich are two of the most successful coaches in the game and they are also two of the most outspoken coaches in all of professional sports.
