The Golden State Warriors might not end up empty-handed even after Kevin Durant's departure, as it is possible for them to negotiate a sign-and-trade so they can get something in return from the Brooklyn Nets.

The Nets have already gotten a commitment from KD, who will sign a four-year, $162 million max contract. However, if a sign-and-trade is really going to happen, it is possible that the Warriors will get D'Angelo Russell from Brooklyn.

This move makes sense for Golden State as they will be able to have a great backcourt partner for Stephen Curry while waiting for Klay Thompson's return next season. Russell averaged 21.1 points, 7.0 assists and 3.9 rebounds last season while shooting 36 percent from beyond the arc.

As for the Nets, this really does nothing for them as they can just sign KD outright. Since they are also bringing in Kyrie Irving, they are expected to renounce Russell's qualifying offer. In short, they are just doing the Warriors a favor.

Nothing is imminent at the moment, especially since Russell is reportedly interested in either returning to the Los Angeles Lakers or signing with the Minnesota Timberwolves. But of course, having a chance to play with one of the greatest shooters of all-time could potentially change his mind.
