The Memphis Grizzlies, current owners of the NBA's best record at 5-1, could be without All-Star big man Marc Gasol for their home game against the Charlotte Hornets on Monday night due to an ankle problem.

Gasol struggled with his shot in his most recent game against the Houston Rockets. He went just 1-of-8 from the field and had a season-low six points. However, he had been outstanding in the four games prior, averaging 27.8 points on 53 percent shooting with 10.8 rebounds per game to help the Grizzlies to their surprising 5-1 record.

If Gasol does miss out, Brandan Wright will likely take his spot in the starting lineup. The 30-year-old Wright has had two injury-plagued seasons with the Grizzlies but has played in all six games thus far. He’s averaging 4.2 points and 3.7 rebounds in 14.2 minutes per game this year.
Gasol’s potential absence would put more responsibility on Mike Conley to lead the Grizzlies offense. The veteran point guard is the team’s second-leading scorer behind Gasol with 17.5 points, but is shooting just 40 percent from the field.
