The Miami Heat could be primed for a roster move.

A key date is fast approaching that allows NBA teams to trade players acquired in the offseason. That date is Dec. 15, and the Heat have three players who will be eligible to be traded after that date.

Those players are James Johnson, Dion Waiters and Kelly Olynyk, per Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel.

There's just one catch: The Heat have never made a trade in December in their entire existence as a franchise. But Winderman thinks things could be different this time around.

Unlike last season, when the Heat held their own first-round pick and knew they could bolster, if needed, through that process, the Heat's 2018 first-round pick goes to the Phoenix Suns unless it is among the first seven selections (in which case their 2019 first-round pick goes unprotected to the Suns, in addition to the 2021 unprotected first-rounder for the 2015 acquisition of Goran Dragic).

While the three players Winderman mentioned do in fact become trade eligible on Dec. 15, most of Miami's roster is already eligible to be traded. The Heat have plenty of young players that other teams may want to trade for.

Which means that if the Heat want to make a play before the February deadline, this might be the year to do it.
