Los Angeles Lakers head coach Luke Walton in his second year at the helm of the most popular team in Southern California, and it looks like he's finally beginning to settle in.
Although the Lakers are struggling this season at 8-15, Walton has instilled a sense of calm to his players, keeping with the message that everything will work out in the long term. He's only worrying about what happens day by day, per Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN.
Walton says he is much more comfortable and has more patience in his second year with a “clearer vision of where we are going.” But rather than entertain the possibilities of next season, when the Lakers dream of having two superstars for Walton to coach, Walton prefers to stay in the moment.
That clear vision seems to be rooted in all of Walton's young talent. Lonzo Ball, Kyle Kuzma, Larry Nance Jr. and the rest of them are coming into their own in the NBA, and they're still practically noobs at professional basketball.
Walton's even keel has helped the Lakers keep perspective so far this year, despite being on a current losing streak and having all the attention that Ball brings to the team. So long as Walton keeps it tougher, his squad will follow and good things will happen.
