Say whatever you want about Austin Rivers, but he is definitely an intelligent individual. Being the son of a NBA champion head coach, Rivers apparently had it much easier than other players that had to work hard to get where they are. Nonetheless, a reputation as the coach's son may be the golden ticket in high school and maybe college, but it means absolutely nothing in the NBA, the world's largest professional basketball league.
Believe it or not, Rivers had to work for his spot in the NBA and so far, it has paid off. Now that Chris Paul and Blake Griffin are out of the Clippers rotation, the organization has shifted towards a focus on incorporating their young talent. This means that players like Rivers get to thrive in the lineup.
Rivers, like many players, have their own political beliefs that they believe are worth spreading to others via their platform. After a deadly school shooting at Stoneman Douglas High School, there is a rising debate on whether there should be stricter gun laws in the United States to prevent these mishaps.

This will likely cause a stir in the political world. Many political personalities have heavily reprimanded players for speaking their minds on political issues, especially against the Trump Administration. This just goes to show that nothing is going to deter players from speaking their minds on their political beliefs. After all, it is their constitutional right.
