Los Angeles Clippers star Paul George will be relied upon heavily to carry his team for most of this season given Kawhi Leonard's absence due to knee surgery. As we all know, PG has been the victim of no shortage of criticism in his career, most specifically in the 2020 Orlando Bubble, where he was given the nickname “Pandemic P”.
The Clippers forward spoke out on the hate he's received in the past and made it very clear he doesn't care at all about the outside noise. Via Andrew Greif of The LA Times:
Article Continues Below“It’s just an approach where I don’t give a F,” George said about outside criticism. “I don’t give a s—. That’s just how I attack the court now. Like I said, I don’t need validation. I’m my worst critic, and that’s the only thing that matters — the only thing that matters to me.”
That attitude was very clear in the 2021 NBA Playoffs, where George led the Clippers to the Western Conference Finals. He averaged just under 30 points in the last two series of the postseason and basically put LA on his back without Kawhi.
The Clippers went out and added Eric Bledsoe this offseason while locking up Leonard, Reggie Jackson, Nicolas Batum, and Terance Mann on new deals. Ultimately though, it will come down to just how good Paul George can be.
