Los Angeles Clippers consultant Jerry West says the Los Angeles Lakers never reached out to him for the their vacant president job after Magic Johnson resigned near the end of the regular season.

However, West says he wouldn't have taken the Lakers job anyway, as he's enjoying his role with the Clippers.

“No, you know I think it’s foolish for anyone to say that, I really do,” West said on The Athletic's podcast, via Christian Rivas of Silver Screen and Roll. “I had a great time there as a player and working with Jerry Buss was very fun. Things evolve, but I was never approached and it’s not something I could have ever revisited. It really isn’t, even though I see things over there that I think could be done, but I think every person in the league does that.”

The Lakers reportedly won't hire anyone above general manager Rob Pelinka in the wake of Johnson's resignation.

The Purple and Gold hired former Indiana Pacers and Orlando Magic head coach Frank Vogel as Luke Walton's replacement. Hall of Famer and former Brooklyn Nets and Milwaukee Bucks coach Jason Kidd is Vogel's lead assistant.

West was an executive with the Lakers from 1982-2000. The Clippers are hoping West will help them land two star free agents this summer.

The Lakers, meanwhile, will have to hope and pray Pelinka, LeBron James and Vogel can do the same for the Lake Show.
