It's clear that Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Doncic was a fan before seeing the Backstreet Boys at the Sphere — and he showed that at the team's facility.

The Athletic published a story about Doncic. Before knowing that the team planned a surprise trip to the Sphere in Las Vegas to see the Backstreet Boys, Doncic happened to play their music in the Lakers' facility, proving he was “in sync” with them.

“Saturday, Doncic arrived at the team’s facility before 7 a.m, for a workout prior to signing the extension,” the article read. “Unaware that Seager and the Lakers had planned a surprise trip to Las Vegas later that night to see the Backstreet Boys at The Sphere, Doncic blared the boy band’s music throughout the Lakers’ facility — another sign that the organization and its star were, um, in sync.”

It sounds like the Lakers and Doncic have been “in sync” for a while. Beth Seager said Doncic approached his extension like it was a “marriage.” So, he is committed to the team.

“His mindset is to build where he is and to work together,” said Seager. “And as long as he’s signed with a team, it’s a marriage and you treat it like a marriage. And marriages have hard times and good times, but you’re loyal and you’re faithful to each other through it all. And that’s just who Luka is. I don’t think he ever thought. ‘I’m not signing my extension.’”

Recently, Doncic went to Las Vegas to see the Backstreet Boys at the Sphere. Clearly, he is a big fan of them, as evidenced by him playing their music at the Lakers' facility.

He also filmed a video with the Backstreet Boys' Brian Littrell. They poked fun at his height, as Littrell had to get on a table to meet Doncic eye-to-eye.

Currently, the Backstreet Boys are in the midst of their first concert residency at the Sphere. They will perform 21 shows during the run, which began on July 11, 2025. It will conclude on August 5, 2025. The residency is titled Into the Millennium. It is a celebration of their third studio album, Millennium.
