As happy as Miami Heat legend Dwyane Wade was for his close friend LeBron James in winning the 2020 NBA Finals, it couldn't have come at a worse time. Due to a bet the Heat legend loss to Cari Champion, Wade got a purple”L”spray painted on his head.

“So the bet was to put a purple L in the back of my head. I don't know if it's for Lakers, I don't know if it's for losers or y'all loss,” stated Wade in the clip.

The bet was apparently based on whether or not the Heat bested the Lakers in the finals — which they didn't. The Lakers defeated the Heat for the fourth and final time on Sunday, giving the franchise their 17th title in NBA history. Wade, a legend in Miami, has been very vocal throughout the playoffs as he watched his good friend in Jimmy Butler lead an underdog Heat squad to the NBA Finals.

Wade had much reason to believe that the Heat could possibly come out victorious against the Lakers, especially after watching them nearly sweep the Eastern Conference favorites in the Milwaukee Bucks. Butler helped usher in a new culture for the Heat, averaging 22.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, three assists and three steals through six games against the Lakers.

Wade and Butler enjoyed a brief playing time together with the Chicago Bulls during the 2016-17 season. Wade lobbied for Butler to take his talents to South Beach in the offseason of 2019. Though the Heat weren't able to complete the objective, they certainly overachieved this season.
