When the Boston Celtics took a 3-2 lead over the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference Finals, the series seemed all but over. Miami had scored less than 85 points in consecutive games and the Celtics had an opportunity to clinch at home. But Jimmy Butler posted a 47-point performance to lead the Heat to a Game 6 victory in Boston. He then played 48 minutes in a 35-point effort at home in Game 7. However, the Celtics ultimately earned a 4-point series clinching victory.
Nonetheless, most people around the league surely don't blame Jimmy Butler. He gave all he had. But Butler took full responsibility after the Heat's defeat.
“In my book, I just think I can’t have bad games,” Butler said. “I played like trash in a couple. I think that was the series.”
Butler's “trash” performances were in reference to games 4 and 5. But he rebounded in a major way and still almost led the Heat to an exciting upset victory.

Jimmy Butler's leadership ability was in full effect with these comments. He understands that even his slightest slip up could end up costing his team a win.
The Heat now have their sights set on rebounding during the 2022-2023 NBA season. Butler will aim to win his first NBA Finals next year.
