After the Miami Heat confirmed on Saturday that Erik Spoelstra won't be able to coach the team due to “personal reasons,” many assumed it was related to the Jimmy Butler incident from last Wednesday's game against the Golden State Warriors.

To recall, Butler had a heated altercation with Udonis Haslem and Spoelstra, leading to the players separating them from each other. While Spo and the rest of the team eventually played the incident down and reasoned out that it's just because of their competitive nature, fans can't help but wonder whether the team is collapsing right in front their eyes.

However, before anyone jumps to a conclusion, Spoelstra's latest absence is unrelated to the Butler incident. According to Ira Winderman of the South Florida-Sun Sentinel, Coach Spo is away from the team at this time because of a medical procedure for one of his two sons.

No further details were revealed on the situation. Hopefully, though, the Spoelstra family is doing fine.

Filling in for Erik Spoelstra's head coaching role is assistant coach Chris Quinn. While the Heat assistant was surprised by the development, he cited that he is not “re-writing the book by any means.” He also shared how he plans to coach with a similar voice as Spoelstra.

“Anytime you have a mentor of that level and also with Coach Riley around so much … it only makes sense that voice is sounding like him at this point,” Quinn furthered.

Heading to Saturday's game, the Heat are on a three-game losing skid. They are in danger of losing the East top seed if their woes continue, so the pressure is on Quinn and the rest of the team to break out of the slump and keep their seeding in place. For what it's worth, the Nets are also desperate for victory as they attempt to stay within the seventh or eighth seeds to make their life easier come the play-in tournament.

The result of the game will still be tallied under Spoelstra, but certainly, the coach, Quinn and the Heat aren't thinking about that. They have to do whatever it takes to win amid all the issues they are facing, and they can't focus on the things that don't really matter.
