A couple of years back, it would almost be unimaginable to think that the balance of power in the NBA would shift from the Western Conference to the East. This makes a lot of sense. Two years ago, nobody expected the Heat to go all the way to the Finals and to some extent, a lot of people underestimated them — including some of their opponents in the playoffs. The element of surprise gave this team an advantage and it looks like Herro is still banking on this notion.

The Heat are far from an under-the-radar team this season, however. After dominating the regular season, Miami finished with the best record in the East, making them one of the favorites to come out of the conference.
