The Miami Heat figure to be an active team this offseason, and they have a veteran forward on their radar. According to the Five Reasons Sports Network, the Heat are still interested in adding Danilo Gallinari in free agency ahead of the 2020-2021 season. Miami is reportedly “investigating several ways” how to bring Gallinari to South Beach.
Gallinari is entering free agency after spending the 2019-2020 season with the Oklahoma City Thunder. Given his ability to play small forward or power forward and shoot it from range, he is expected to be a popular free-agent target for contending teams.
Before the trade deadline last season, the Heat expressed interest in landing Gallinari from the Thunder. However, Miami was unable to come to terms with Gallinari on an extension, which derailed the deal.
In his lone season with the Thunder, Gallinari averaged 18.7 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 1.9 assists across 62 games. He also shot 40.5 percent from 3-point range while shooting a career-high 7.1 3-pointers per game.

But after falling short in the NBA Finals, the Heat realize they have some work to do to the roster if they want another chance to win a title. This is especially true with teams like the Milwaukee Bucks, Toronto Raptors, Boston Celtics, and Brooklyn Nets residing in the Eastern Conference.
Even though he is 32 years old and has had injury concerns, Gallinari could provide a contender with a valuable role player. As they hope to build off their performance from last season, the Heat are considered a front-runner for his services.
