The Milwaukee Bucks are just over two weeks out from kicking off their 2025-26 season with a game against the Washington Wizards. The team recently received a scare when Giannis Antetokounmpo was forced to miss media day with COVID-19, but he has since re-joined the team in Miami for their upcoming preseason game against the Heat, per the Associated Press.

Recently, Antetokounmpo spoke on how important his basketball legacy is to him, per the Bucks' official team account on YouTube.

“Like I think every—every basketball player, every athlete like start the career and then like have this quest, like what they want to accomplish and what they—what to be remembered for,” said Antetokounmpo, via Hoopshype. “And I think in this point, I've—you know—accomplished everything that I've put my mind to. But now I just want more. Like I—I want to win another championship. I want to win another medal for the national team. Because legacy is very important for me.”

“Legacy—like what I'm going to be remembered for, how I'm going to be one of the all-time greats,” he added. “And that's step by step, you know—practice by practice, game by game, season by season. Just keep on stacking days. Keep on being consistent and available.”

Can the Bucks still compete?

The Milwaukee Bucks have lost in the first round against the Indiana Pacers for two straight postseasons, prompting immense chatter that Antetokounmpo could be on the move this offseason via trade.

However, the Bucks instead went out and cut Damian Lillard, using the temporarily cleared cap space to sign free agent center Myles Turner, who had just laid a gigantic egg in the NBA Finals but remains a nice floor spacer and rim protector as a five.

Still, even with Turner in the mix, the Bucks will be relying heavily on journeymen like Kyle Kuzma and Kevin Porter Jr. to provide Antetokounmpo with some help, and it's unclear if they're up to the task.

Milwaukee will open up its new season on October 22 against the Wizards at home.
