Arenas, now 37 years of age, spent 10 seasons in the NBA. Most hoops fans will remember his stint with the Washington Wizards, where he earned three All-Star selections and became a fan favorite.
Arenas joined Mike Botticello on The No Chill Podcast to break the news with Ice Cube, who was a co-founder of the BIG3. Amid their discussion, Cube explained why and how his new three-on-three league came to be, then later learned that Arenas is on-board with the concept.
“The BIG3 is for guys who didn't get to run like they wanted to, or leave the league like they wanted to — on their own terms,” Ice Cube explained. “On a sympathy level, just as an artist, I couldn't imagine somebody coming to me at 33 or 34, saying they don't need my rapping and acting anymore. I just felt like, ‘Why not?' Why not have a league where you're out when you say you're out.”
As the podcast went on, Arenas made his commitment to the BIG3 final:

“So I've got four and a half months (to prepare)?” Arenas asked Ice Cube during the show.
“Well, I mean, you've gotta make your decision before that.” Cube replied with a smile.
“You know what? I'm just gonna say yes now,” Arena said with a smile. “I'm gonna go ahead and join. I've got four months to really get my sh** together, because I'm coming hard.”
And just like that, Arenas became the next member of the BIG3 league.

Arenas was an excellent scorer in his prime, and now he'll look to make waves in the BIG3. In 552 career games played, the Los Angeles area native racked up averages of 20.7 points on 42.1 percent shooting from the field (35.1 percent from beyond the arc), 5.3 assists, 3.9 rebounds and 1.6 steals in 35.1 minutes per outing.
