Miami Heat icon Dwyane Wade recently wrote a heartfelt letter to Quentin Richardson, his former teammate and a player he looked up to way back in high school.

Via his Instagram account, Wade posted a photo of him with Richardson, together with a caption which detailed how much he looked up to the 3-point shooting marksman. Richardson was not just his idol and mentor, but they also formed a strong friendship and a brotherhood.

Wade revealed that he had a poster of Richardson in high school. Also, when Wade was still playing for Marquette, he revealed that he would sneak into Richardson's hotel whenever they played the Milwaukee Bucks.

This might be a surprise to some. Most people know that Wade hangs out with the likes of LeBron James, Chris Paul, and Carmelo Anthony. But it seems that way before he formed a bond with the so-called Banana Boat crew, he has already forged a mentor-mentee relationship with Richardson.

In fact, the two played one season with the Heat as teammates. It was a decent campaign for the Heat. Wade, by that time, had successfully recovered from injury. He was also well within his prime years. Richardson, for his part, was at the tail-end of his NBA career.

The following season, however, their stint as teammates was cut short by the arrival of LeBron James and Chris Bosh. But fast forward to almost a decade, it seems that their relationship was never tarnished.
