The Sacramento Kings'  slow start to the season continues. Their struggles continue as they lost to the Portland Trail Blazers due to the incredibly thin lineup that they had to field against the Blazers.

While it's important to note that the depleted Kings managed to keep things close against the Blazers, they failed to finish the game.

But according to NBA.com's Jordan Ramirez, Kings guard Corey Joseph doesn't want the team to use the injuries the team sustained as reasons for their defeat.

“We're all banged up,” said Cory Joseph. “But it's the NBA, it happens. It's a next man up mentality. We just have to figure out how to put a couple wins together.”

The Kings played this game without De'Aaron Fox, Marvin Bagley III, and Bogdan Bogdanovic. These three players are key components of the Sacramento offense, so it's understandable if they were going to have a bit of difficulty leading the team. Moreover, Fox is a terrific playmaker who is leading the Kings with his exceptional playmaking. His daily averages of seven assists is something Sacramento would have definitely needed against the Blazers.

However, Buddy Hield is still performing for the Kings. Harrison Barnes is also playing solid basketball as the established third option. Nemanja Bjelica and Richaun Holmes stepped up for the Kings against the Blazers. Moreover, coach Luke Walton is consistently looking for ways to consistently improve their game.

It's going to be a tough stretch of time for the Kings while they wait for their players' return. However, they've shown that they can ball with the best of them. Sacramento must rally themselves and perform well until their star point guard returns.
