The Golden State Warriors will head back to Oracle Arena tied with the Houston Rockets in their Western Conference semifinals series, and a big reason why is the sudden aggressiveness the Rockets have shown on defense and in the paint. According to Nick Wright, this even extends out to James Harden, who has impressed on defense.

During today’s episode of First Things First, Nick Wright discussed the overall impact that both Kevin Durant and James Harden have. Specifically, Wright noted that while Harden is guarding Kevin Durant, Durant is shooting just 32%, compared to the 50% he’s shooting when guarded by any other Rockets player.

Of course, this is a pretty small sample size, but it does show just how the Rockets have managed to take two straight games from Golden State. Instead of sticking with the same approach that they had in the opening two games, Houston has gone incredibly small and aggressive. Starting P.J. Tucker at center, the Rockets have agitated the Warriors for most of Games 3 and 4 of the series, and it shows.

Not only did the Warriors get outrebounded in the two games in Houston, but they were also clearly agitated in their offensive sets, oftentimes getting moved around by a stronger Houston defense. For both teams, adjustments will be the key to winning the series, and right now it seems as if it’s Golden State’s turn to figure out how to counter Houston, or else they'll be missing out on a chance at winning their third straight NBA Finals.
