The last few years have seen the NBA release 30 new jerseys for each team called the “City Edition”—a jersey meant to represent a part of every franchise's city in a unique way. Well, some succeed more than others.

The newest batch of 30 jerseys have to be ranked, especially if you're deciding which ones to buy.

Some good teams got great jerseys, some bad teams got good jerseys…and some bad teams got even worse jerseys.

What sets apart the best and worst jerseys? It's a combination of fresh, new idea and execution. There are some in here that are well executed but make zero distinction from past entries (some from other clubs). Also, there are great ideas that are very flawed in execution.

30 Minnesota Timberwolves

The issue here might rest in the fact that there were some leaks and this specific jersey doesn't match it all, resulting in toyed relations.

29. New Orleans Pelicans

What even is this? Terrible. Awful. The Pistons made this with clip art in an attempt to relate to the French Quarter of New Orleans. There's nothing to see here.

28. Detroit Pistons

Another disgrace. What was even the point of this design? It's circular text around a number (the franchise's already existing font). Perhaps Blake Griffin won't have to wear this jersey for long, though.

27. Cleveland Cavaliers

A very good example here of interesting concept with poor execution. The Cavs tried to go with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame-inspired jersey, but their City Edition just looks like random clippings from different magazines strewn together. Better luck next time, Cleveland.

26. Washington Wizards

This is the opposite of clean. They look an almost matted gray color for the majority of the jersey and gave it standard issue stars and stripes on the sides—something we've seen before from the Wizards' wardrobe. Go back to the drawing board, D.C.

25. Oklahoma City Thunder

What I really dislike about this one is how much I enjoy the stock car racing theme and the numbering looks great. However, the multiple patterns intersected by “Oklahoma” really makes the rebuilding Thunder's City Edition jersey look overly complicated and tough to look at. Try one or two of the patterns and better synchronicity between the team name or location and get back to work.

24. New York Knicks

No idea what happened here, it looks like this was white or gray and went through the wash with something orange and blue, thus staining or tie-dyeing the jersey. The Knicks need a better basketball team and better alternate jerseys, because they do possess solid standard home/away uniforms. Another circle? We've seen that before.

23. Milwaukee Bucks

Uh, the colors look nice. Not much else going here for Milwaukee.

22. Dallas Mavericks

Admittedly, these are pretty clean, but there's no history behind the look other than another white jersey for the Mavs and some accented gold on the lettering. There could be a lot more here that was just left out in favor of a clean white look.

21. Brooklyn Nets

One of the better concepts introduced with the City Edition jerseys this year, but the Nets fell a little flat. The Jean-Michel Basquiat-inspired fit will be worn by Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, but the Nets saw better mileage out of the Notorious B.I.G. one.

20. Utah Jazz

These are fine, but they don't draw a big enough distinction from the Jazz's previous multi-tiered and colored jersey.

19. Houston Rockets

James Harden may really want to leave the Rockets if they attempt to take the hardwood with these. All things considered, they're fine, but just look like a cool blue version of the existing “H-Town” jersey.

18. Philadelphia 76ers

Ben Simmons reportedly designed this one himself and it has us wondering if, like his shooting form, he doesn't know whether to draw with his right or left hand.

Anyway, the concept is pretty cool and the high number above the city is a throwback and risky move for a 21st century jersey. It's pretty cool although it could have been executed better.

17. Denver Nuggets

These are just Jazz jerseys we've seen before, nothing new from the Nuggets, but nonetheless they are rather rad.

16. Boston Celtics

Another one of the better concepts in the batch this year, Boston's City Edition jersey pays homage the many banners hanging inside the TD Garden. The color(s) is rather boring, though, which is not unpredictable coming from the Celtics.

15. Sacramento Kings

Pretty good from the Kings, who boast already one of the richer colors for their normal jersey, purple, but this time combine some Rochester Royals-inspired fits with the City Edition one.

14. Indiana Pacers

These are direct throwbacks to the 1990s Reggie Miller era Pacers jerseys with an updated facelift in a bright blue color behind the pinstripes. If this was a little more unique than a throwback, it'd get a better ranking.

This is a great jersey from the Magic, who offer another pinstripe entry for this season. The orange sets it apart from most pinstripe jerseys.

Nothing too crazy from the (Tampa) Raptors, but it's a great pairing with the gold and raptor clawed shorts. This will work well.

The Lakers throw back to the Minneapolis days with a inverse colorway here. It's very clean.

10. Phoenix Suns

The pixelated, colorful art mixed with the “Valley” nickname works very well here for the new-look Suns.

9. Los Angeles Clippers

Sensing a theme with baseline black jerseys working well? The Clippers pull ahead of two division rivals on this list by reversing the colorway of last year's City Edition jersey. This could be hire if it was a radical departure but ultimately it's the same as last year's.

These are great and theater-inspired by the Bulls, who show off the little-discussed glitz and glamor that Chicago possesses.

7. Atlanta Hawks

The Hawks boast this Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.-inspired fit with gold trimming. It's a tasteful display with cool lettering.

6. Charlotte Hornets

These are serious heat and win the unofficial pinstripe competition by the NBA's jersey entries. The teal with gold and black pinstripes really pop out but don't overshadow the main teal.

5. Golden State Warriors

This is a combination of new design with throwback appeal. The Warriors, a year ago moving to San Francisco, pay tribute to Oakland with bright colors and the main color of the jersey and shorts boasting an understated navy blue.

4. San Antonio Spurs

This is another tribute with a facelift. The Spurs break out their “Fiesta” style with a script city name on a black jersey with white numbers and that festive neon/pink/orange stripe across the chest and up and down the legs.

3. Miami Heat

Have the Heat ever worn a bad jersey? Probably not. This City Edition “Vice” jersey is incredible, combining bright colors with the iconic “Miami” stylized text.

2. Memphis Grizzlies

The Grizzlies point blank have the best rotation of jerseys in the NBA right now. The developing team is going to look very fresh in this black-and-gold jersey with bright blue on the sides. Another fantastic concept and great execution. Everybody should look forward to rocking these.
