They might have to gun for back-to-back wins against the New York Knicks Friday without Russell again as the point guard is currently listed as doubtful by the Nets according to Anthony Puccio of NetsDaily.com.

Russell sprained his knee during Tuesday’s 125-121 loss to the Orlando Magic, and while he was able to play 30 minutes and finish that game, he was declared out the following day against the Cavs.

However, the Nets listing Russell as doubtful may just be a conservative move by Brooklyn. Based on Puccio’s observation of Russell’s ability to walk normally, there’s reason to believe that the former Ohio State Buckeye could be ruled okay to play opposite the Knicks.

Should Nets head coach Kenny Atkinson ultimately rule out D'Angelo Russell for that game, he’ll have capable weapons to utilize in the backcourt. One is Spencer Dinwiddie, who turned heads in the Cavaliers game with a fantastic outing, pouring in 22 points to go with six assists, and five rebounds in 32 minutes of action.

The Nets will have a one-day rest after the tilt at Madison Square Garden and before traveling back home for a game against the Denver Nuggets on Sunday.
