The New York Knicks have an open roster spot to use before the playoffs. Often, these open roster spots are used on 10-day contracts that teams use to try players out and remain below the tax line. However, there are five players that are worthy of receiving a full-time contract from the Knicks.

The New York Knicks are currently 24-24, making them 6th in the Eastern Conference, and have been successful as a team by being an elite defense. Any signings they make will have to be of players that won't compromise this defense and will add to the spacing or slashing of the team on offense. These four players could all add varied but valuable roles to the Knicks and each one should be seriously considered.

Option 1: Glenn Robinson III

Glenn Robinson III is a good player who has consistently found himself in adverse situations throughout his career. He had a small coming-out party as a member of the Golden State Warriors last year before being traded to the Philadelphia 76ers. This year, he was signed to a partially guaranteed deal with the Sacramento Kings before being released. He still has talent as a wing though and he should be looked at as such.

The Knicks, like almost every team in the NBA, could use more wings. At 6'6, Robinson III is definitely the size of a wing, and his skill set matches too. He's a solid shooter and defender and he can play off a player like Julius Randle as a cutter very well. Glenn Robinson III would be one of the few players the Knicks could acquire that would actually get minutes for this playoff team.

Option 2: Rondae Hollis-Jefferson

Rondae Hollis-Jefferson is a player who was worthy of a contract in the preseason, but couldn't find his way onto a team. He can still help a team though, even if it is only in spot minutes. Hollis-Jefferson is a good defender in every facet. He can guard on-ball as well as be an excellent backside rim-protector when needed. He isn't much of a shooter, but he is a good cutter and has even shown utility as a roll man if needed.

The Knicks could really use a player like Hollis-Jefferson to guard Jayson Tatum, Kevin Durant, or Khris Middleton in the playoffs. He can give scoring wings some trouble and the Knicks don't currently have a player that fills that role. A player like that is an absolute necessity for any team that wants to get past the first round in the playoffs.

Option 3: Jeremy Lin

Jeremy Lin is a player many thought was done before the season, but he proved himself to still have some juice as a point guard in the G-League Bubble. He is a steady veteran at the guard spot, the type of player who rarely makes the wrong play. He can shoot, dribble, and pass and has experience in the NBA.

New York was the original home of Linsanity and it would be a tremendous thing to see it brought back. Jeremy Lin is the type of veteran presence that the New York Knicks could really use. The Knicks have struggled to find consistent point guard play and Lin is nothing if not consistent. His pick and roll ability and spacing would help the Knicks on offense.

Option 4: Devin Cannady

Devin Cannady is a bit of a different choice for this list, but no less deserving than the other three. Cannady starred for the eventual champion Lakeland Magic in the G-League Bubble. He is a 6'1 combo guard who does everything you could ask for from a guard like him. He is an incredible shooter and a good athlete. He makes the right decision with the ball in his hand and he plays hard on defense. He is the type of G-League player who is certainly deserving of a shot at the NBA.

The Knicks could use a player like Cannady to add some depth to their guard rotation. Elfrid Payton and Immanuel Quickley have been inconsistent throughout the year and having a two-way guard on the bench could help them out. Cannady is not going to be a star in the NBA, but he could certainly be a useful role player in the right context.
