Will Barton is a cold man. The Denver Nuggets shooting guard erupted for a career-high 37 points off the bench to help his team take down the Chicago Bulls at home Thursday, 111-110. Barton was feeling it right from the get-go, as he went 13-of-19 from the field with his last basket of the night turning out to be the game-winner.

Prior to Barton’s game-winning basket, the Bulls got the lead momentarily when Chicago point guard Kris Dunn drove for a layup, leaving nine seconds for the Denver to get the lead back. It was just enough for Barton to author a heroic play to seal the deal for the Nuggets.

There was no doubt on Barton’s mind that he’s going to deliver for his team. According to Harrison Wind of BSN Denver, the 26-year-old bench hotshot instructed his teammates to hand him the rock and just let him do the rest.

Thanks to Barton’s exploits, the Nuggets were able to weather the absence of center Nikola Jokic, who left the game in the first half and didn’t return due to an ankle injury, and get their 12th win of the season against nine losses.

Barton is making a strong case for his candidacy to win Sixth Man of the Year honors, as he is averaging 15.4 points and 5.0 rebounds per game this season.
