Apparently, Oklahoma City Thunder forward Paul George wasn’t the only target of a hostile crowd Wednesday inside Bankers Life Fieldhouse during a game between the Indiana Pacers and the Thunder.

George’s eardrums probably were close to rupturing from all the boos he got from hateful Pacers fans who still can’t get over that offseason trade that sent their former superstar to the Thunder, but his teammate in Carmelo Anthony also didn’t escape the all-out clowning from the pro-Pacers crowd.

When Anthony took to the stripe at one point in the game, Pacers fans erupted with a “Honey Nut Cheerios” chant.

For the benefit of those who haven’t heard of the story, former Boston Celtics forward Kevin Garnett allegedly once told Carmelo Anthony that the latter’s wife, La La, ‘tasted like Honey Nut Cheerios.’ The story is apocryphal, and La La and Melo are now separated but the legend of a wife that tastes like cereal continues to live on to this day.

Anyway, George, Melo, and the Thunder got the last laugh in this game, as they stopped the Pacers' four-game win streak with a 100-95 road victory.

Up ahead for the Thunder is another road game against the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday. Will Sixers fans up the ante and jeer Anthony, too? We all know what Philly sports fans are capable of.
