The Detriot Pistons got off to a strong start out of the gate in the season opener on Wednesday night with a 102-90 win over the visiting Charlotte Hornets.

Veteran forward Tobias Harris led the way with a double-double with a game-high 27 points and 10 rebounds in the win. Following the game, Harris made it clear that he has his eyes set on earning his first All-Star game selection, according to Vince Ellis of the Detroit Free Press.

“As a player, obviously that’s one of my goals as a player,” Harris said. “You got to play the game to be one of the best players you can be and I feel that as a player, I have dreams and aspirations in hopefully getting to that point.”

The 25-year-old has an opportunity to make a strong case for his first All-Star selection after the slew of talent at the small forward position making the jump over to the Western Conference this past summer in Paul George, Carmelo Anthony, and Jimmy Butler.

Harris is a uniquely talented offensive player that can score from all three levels on the floor that was put on display against the Hornets. He also has the opportunity to take up a huge offensive role this season alongside Reggie Jackson and Andre Drummond. Their presence on the floor could open up more opportunities for him to score.

Ultimately, Harris possesses a realistic chance of finally breaking through for his first All-Star selection in the 2017-18 campaign.
