LaMarcus Aldridge didn't take long to give CJ McCollum a friendly jab after the Portland Trail Blazers guard secured a three-year, $100 million extension with the team.

Aldridge asked to borrow some money, but that request was accepted with a catch — the big man must get that from McCollum's very hands at his current home.

This comes only days after new Blazer Pau Gasol said he was given a ringing endorsement of the city of Portland from Aldridge, who spent the first nine years of his career in Rip City. Gasol revealed that Aldridge, his former teammate with the San Antonio Spurs, could see himself coming back to the Blazers one day, which only fanned the flames of nostalgia.

Aldridge still has two years and $50 million left on his contract with the Spurs, which would make him 36 years old by the time he's free of that commitment. The big man has a full $26 million guaranteed for this season, but only $7 million of his $24 million for the 2020-21 season is guaranteed if he's waived by June 29. Exploring a trade at this point would also be a risky proposition for the Blazers, as he also has a 15% trade kicker built into his deal.

At this point, the rumblings of Aldridge returning to Portland are merely sentimental after the Texas standout parted ways with the Blazers soon after his partnership soured with Damian Lillard, one he has been hoping to make right soon after he left for San Antonio.

While Aldridge still has 20-and-10 potential in this league, he likely won't bring anything exceptional to a team that has made sound changes this offseason to better its playoff chances.

Looks like that borrowed money might have to wait some time.
