The demonstrations of professional teams in the country during the singing of the national anthem are continuing to be a controversial topic in the world of sports.
With the latest comments made by President Donald Trump directed at the NFL, and after he withdrew his invitation to the Golden State Warriors to visit the White House, coupled with the different social issues the U.S. is facing, more acts can be expected from NBA teams this coming season.
Toronto Raptors point guard Kyle Lowry recently shared that their team is still not sure whether they will kneel or just stand when the Star Spangled Banner will be sang, but he made it known that he believes the league will support them in whatever gesture they will decide to make. He also added, via Josh Lewenberg of TSN Sports, that he will take part in the act, as he feels it’s his responsibility as a human being.
Kyle Lowry: "We're not just athletes. I'm a man… People say stay in your lane, but our lane as human beings is to be human beings."

Athletes today are more than just professionals who get paid for playing their sports. They have been active in raising awareness about different issues which affect the lives of many. They are also not shy to share their thoughts about it, mostly on their social media accounts, as they can easily spread their message across to their millions of followers.
The kind of demonstration the Raptors will make is definitely something worth keeping an eye on. It will be very interesting to see how they will do it, and what kind of reception they will receive from their fans, as well as the league office.
