Word on the mean streets of gossip and reporting has Kevin Durant likely to take yet another shorter term deal to stay with the Golden State Warriors.
This was initially brought to light by way of Anthony Slater, who sent out a tweet to let the free world know of the current situation at hand.
Something of note 12 hours before free agency: If KD takes another 1+1 deal (rumblings are it's heading that way), it would save the Warriors a ton in tax money. Salary next year would be $30mil instead of max of around $35.4mil. That would increase likelihood Warriors use MLE.

The tax money is good for no one but the owners. However, as Slater mentions in the above tweet, it does provide the Warriors a chance to use the mid-level exception.

Kevin Durant, a noted good basketball player, didn't opt-in to his deal with Golden State when he had the chance, though that was widely expected to be the case when everything was going down.
Of note when talking about opting in and/or out: Players aren't actually opting out. They are actually doing nothing. By doing nothing, they are choosing to not opt in. There's actually never a player who technically opts out. Semantics sure, as the opt out phrase is simply used to let fans know a player isn't staying with his original deal, but the word opt out has a heavy inference that comes with it.
Free agency is only a few hours away at this point, and regardless of how long he signs for, Durant is still expected to stay with the mighty Warriors of Golden State (which isn't actually a state, but whatever).
