San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich gave an update on when Kawhi Leonard could return to action and finally make his debut for his team this season after missing the team's first 15 games and counting.
Although the legendary coach did not give an exact timetable for the former three-time Defensive Player of the Year, Popovich provided news that will surely be welcomed by the San Antonio faithful.

The 68-year-old Spurs coach recently said, via Tom Osborn of the San Antonio Express-News, that Kawhi Leonard will be back on the court “sooner than later,” as he continues to recover from a right quadriceps injury that has kept him sidelined since the start of the campaign. In typical Gregg Popovich fashion, he once again dropped a hint, but did not expound on his statement, that leaves a lot of speculation to the public.

Asked if there is “light at the end of the tunnel” for the Spurs’ linchpin player, Popovich said after shootaround Tuesday morning, “Oh, sure. He’s gonna be back sooner rather than later.”
Despite Leonard’s absence, the Spurs have managed to stay afloat and currently own a 9-5 record. Thanks to their signature ball movement, discipline, and unselfish play, together with a resurgent LaMarcus Aldridge, Patty Mills, Dejounte Murray, and Pau Gasol, just to name a few, the team continues to own one of the best records in the Western Conference, and are currently in third place.

Should Gregg Popovich’s claim hold true, it will be a huge boost to the Spurs, as Kawhi Leonard is undoubtedly their best player, and what he brings on both ends of the floor will only make the team better. However, with how they are faring so far, there seems to be no need for them to rush him into returning, and are giving The Klaw more than enough time to get back to 100 percent.
