With the San Antonio Spurs mixing and matching their lineups as the season goes on trying to deal with injuries to key players, they've put out some really interesting lineups. In the Spurs' recent game on Saturday night against the Utah Jazz, head coach Gregg Popovich rolled out a lineup which the team hadn't used before: a three guard-lineup consisting of Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili, and Patty Mills, alongside Kyle Anderson and LaMarcus Aldridge.
Mills, a 6-foot, 185 lb point guard, was plugged into the small forward position after having played point and shooting guard in the first eight years in the NBA. After the game, Mills joked that he's going to have to start asking for some touches in the post.
How different/wacky has this season been for the Spurs? For the first time in his life, Patty Mills — all six feet of him — has logged minutes at small forward.
Mills: "I’m probably going to ask for a post touch at some point.”

With guys like Kawhi Leonard, Danny Green, Rudy Gay, Tony Parker, and Kyle Anderson all missing time due to injury, guys like Mills, Dejounte Murray, and Bryn Forbes have seen an increase in playing time as the Spurs continue to roll through the regular season.
Mills has played in 55 games this season, starting 12 of those, averaging 9.5 points, 1.8 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 0.7 steals per game on 42.1 percent shooting from the field and 38.6 percent from beyond the arc. Mills signed a four-year, $50 million deal with San Antonio last summer, but so far, hasn't exactly lived up for his contract. However, he's still got time to close the season out strong for the Spurs as they make a playoff push.
