Former NBA guard Antonio Daniels, who you probably remember more for getting crossed up twice by Allen Iverson than for anything he had done in his 13-year NBA career, went completely off the rails Wednesday after seeing the Oklahoma City Thunder fall victims to the Orlando Magic on the road, 121-108.
Daniels let out a minute-long diatribe, spewing fire about the current state of the Thunder, who he believes are lacking in effort and bereft of inspiration.

“You are representing your community, you are representing your city, and you are representing your organization, and it’s embarrassing. It’s embarrassing that teams continue to have their ‘coming out games’ against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Dirk Nowitzki has been invisible all year, but then against the Oklahoma City Thunder, he looks like the Dirk Nowitzki of old. Yea, Aaron Gordon has gotten to the lab and has worked on his game, but 40 points and 13 rebounds? There comes a point where somebody on this roster has to take a hard foul, has to take a technical foul, has to get thrown out of the game, has to show some sort of emotion, and some sort of passion that will trickle down the line to everyone else. You cannot continue to go out every game and just talk about doing the right things, not do the right things, and expect a different result.”
While Daniels’ incendiary comments might command various reactions, few could argue against the Thunder not playing as well as they should be, considering the level of talent they have on their roster.
The loss to the Magic apparently was where Daniels totally lost it. For one, Orlando had gone winless in its previous nine games, and even with the Thunder’s own struggles, Oklahoma City still shouldn’t have lost to a team with damaged morals and one that also entered the ball game as a six-point underdog.
Daniels didn’t mention any names, but he probably was taking a swipe at Thunder head coach Billy Donovan, who’s having a difficult time in managing his team that got infused with two All-Stars in the offseason in Paul George and Carmelo Anthony.
The Thunder are riding a three-game losing skid, and they will look to stop the bleeding on Friday against the Minnesota Timberwolves at home.
