With the NBA trade deadline nearing, teams are scrambling to make any potential last-minute deals to help shore up their prospective futures. Try as they may, there is seemingly no use in inquiring about Oklahoma City Thunder forward Paul George.

There have been rumblings about teams attempting to capitalize on the Thunder's underwhelming performance in the 2017-18 NBA season thus far. However, Oklahoma City has no intention of splitting up their core group anytime soon, according to Sam Amick of USA Today Sports:

Ask any rival executive who has come calling for George, who thought the Thunder’s inconsistent season might prompt Presti to trade George for fear he might lose another transcendent talent for nothing, and you hear the same word: untouchable.

One cannot blame teams for trying to deal for a superstar of George's caliber. The Thunder have fallen short of their extremely-high expectations this season. Their struggles are backed by the five-time All-Star's cryptic comments about potentially joining his hometown Los Angeles Lakers via free agency this summer.

However, it seems general manager Sam Presti is not thinking about the Thunder's future without George and for good reason. Following a rocky start to the season, the Thunder began to click on all cylinders to start 2018. That said, Presti is looking to add another last-second piece to help take them over the top. For the sake of George's future in Oklahoma City, they better hope they can.
