A few days prior to reigning league MVP Russell Westbrook inked his five-year, $205 million super max extension with the Oklahoma City Thunder, it was revealed he underwent a platelet-rich plasma injection in his right knee this offseason.
The 28-year-old on Sunday gave an update on his recovery from the procedure with a short and direct response, according to Fred Katz of the Norman Transcript.
Westbrook said his recovery from the PRP injections is "Going well, going well." Didn't comment more.

Although this operation was on the same knee that had suffered a torn meniscus a few years ago, there should not be any concern about it becoming a long-term issue. That said, he may miss some time in the preseason as a precautionary measure to make sure that no setback occurs.

It also shouldn't come as a surprise that head coach Billy Donovan has yet to decide Westbrook's status for the preseason opener on Tuesday night against the Houston Rockets.
Billy Donovan said he's not sure about Russell Westbrook's status for Tuesday's preseason opener.

The Thunder are set to enter a highly-promising season with Russell Westbrook being one of the primary pieces to the puzzle alongside offseason additions in All-Star forwards Paul George and Carmelo Anthony. There is a chance the trio could help elevate the Thunder into the title picture as a serious threat to dethrone the Golden State Warriors.
