Toronto Raptors guard Malachi Flynn has been making quite a name for himself of late. As it turns out, this has literally been the case for the 22-year-old rookie now that he's earned a new nickname from teammate Fred VanVleet.
According to VanVleet, he's grown to love Flynn's new nickname of “Red VanVleet”:

In case you were wondering, Flynn's hilarious nickname stems from the fact that he's a redhead. It's not all about the youngster's appearance though, as even VanVleet admits that he sees a lot of himself in his Raptors teammate:
“It's hard to hide. He's got a little bit of a different game than I got but it's definitely there,” VanVleet said. “It's scary how much the personality is similar. That's kinda where I feel like I'm literally talking to my younger brother.”
Flynn has been one of the benefactors of Toronto's recent injury crisis. Over the month of April, the 6-foot-1 point guard has produced averages of 12.9 points, 4.4 rebounds, 5.5 assists, and 1.6 steals, while also connecting on 2.2 triples per game on a 41.4-percent clip. He's no Rookie of the Year, but he's played a key role for a decimated Raptors side of late. The future appears to be bright for Red VanVleet.
