The Philadelphia 76ers are having a resurgent campaign, but in one moment during Saturday’s home game against the L.A. Clippers, Sixers forward Robert Covington almost triggered an old trauma for Philly fans after going full 2015-16 76ers on a dunk attempt.
As the Clippers were trying to bring the ball down the court, Covington perfectly telegraphed Tobias Harris’ pass attempt and proceeded to go up for a wide-open dunk. Covington, however, failed miserably on his to try to convert a supposedly easy two-point basket. Instead of making the top 10 plays of the day, Covington should expect himself to be featured on Shaqtin’ A Fool soon.

That reaction from Sixers guard Jerryd Bayless near the end of the clip perhaps perfectly encapsulates the frustrating yet hilarious play from Covington.
Article Continues BelowFortunately for the 27-year-old forward, his botched attempt at adding to his highlight reel did not matter in the end for the Sixers, as Philadelphia took down Clippers, 112-98, for the team’s third consecutive win and fourth in its last five games. Covington finished the contest with only seven points on a salty 3-for-11 shooting from the floor to go with five rebounds, three steals, and an assist.
Covington will look to have a better shooting night this Monday, when the Sixers host the New York Knicks. The Sixers have won their last two home games against the Knicks.
On the season, the 6-foot-9 Covington is averaging 13.0 points and 5.6 rebounds per game, while also shooting 41.4 percent from the field and 37.6 percent from behind the arc.
