The Golden State Warriors have made a habit of breaking NBA records, and they're on the verge of another one in the next few games.
Currently, the Warriors have won 14 consecutive road games, which ties a franchise record. If they win against Houston on Saturday, that would not only break the record, but also tie them for second all-them in consecutive road wins.
However, the Warriors seem to have bigger fish to fry in terms of road win records, per Carl Steward of the Mercury News.
Breaking the franchise mark is all well and good, but the ones that really should be coveted would be the next two after that. A 16th straight would tie them with one of the greatest teams ever, the 1971-72 NBA champion Lakers team led by Jerry West and Wilt Chamberlain that still holds the league record for overall consecutive victories at 33.

Steward argues that trying for that record — which they could tie on Feb. 2 in Sacramento — will give them something to play for during the doldrums of the NBA season. The team did something similar when it was going for 73 wins two years ago.
Per Steward:
Why should the Warriors be so geared up to get that record? Well, for one thing, it gives them something to be motivated to pursue in this regular season beyond just getting through it en route to the far more important playoff quest.
Being in the same conversation as that Lakers team that won 33 straight would be quite an accomplishment for a team that is full of accomplishments over the last few years. It would be a great sight to see for NBA fans everywhere.
